My passion is writing? What is yours?
Dross means: rubbish, junk, debris, chaff, draff, detritus, flotsam and jetsam.
I didn’t know what ‘dross’ meant, until I worked in a tourism facility that included a gold-processing plant, and then I saw with my own eyes how the process got rid of all of this unwanted stuff and kept only the treasure – the beautiful yellow gold. There was much more ‘dross’ than there was gold, as there may be in our lives. Sometimes we carry so much of it around with us that it weighs heavily – causes us to be physically stooped, or get aches, pains and illnesses.
By writing we can look again at what we are carrying around and find ways to let go of the unwanted dross so that we are left lightly carrying the gold – or treasured moments.
It doesn’t matter whether we are writing fiction or non-fiction; memoir or personal development books, all of our writings will carry within them something of ourselves and our lives.
