From Jeff the Poet, our Leader - May 2008

Thank you all for a lovely day, The weather was perfect and Brian Dianne Jane Elle Bette and myself are ironing out the kinks with ordering and menu's etc, thank you for your understanding and for making reservations, with so many attending now it is CRUCIAL to book ahead.

Remember that our group is from 3 PM to 5 PM so there are still people eating their lunch at 2:45 and we have to wait, would any of us like someone telling us to leave a restaurant, I wouldn't. Like they say "all good things come to those that wait". Last two months have been full days and today was no exception, 38 people, included 10 new guests, four of which may just turn out to be new poets. Welcome to Kathryn Melissa Carol and Vincent who all said they will be back, I didn't get to talk to the other six so maybe they will return.

Our policy of one poem per poet and 40 lines per poem is getting to be more and more important so we can all get a poem in and hopefully two.The standard of the poems is high and everyone's interpretation of the OPTIONAL monthly themes is always so diverse and so good to listen to, poems from the heart are as enjoyable as humour, just knowing there are others that have shared our plights or joys is a bonding and learning experience.

I always try my best to be an entertaining MC and with all the humour going around lately that job is made a little easier. I have penned a couple of funny ones but it is not my forte (I think that's how you spell it). I wrote a funny one about a mans anatomy a couple of years ago, maybe that needs a rewrite and a recite again.

Joan has a great suggestion, that is for us all to send in a poem or two and join together in making a book of poetry from Poetry in Paradise, so we can recall some of the master pieces that come through the microphone on a Sunday afternoon, only to fade into oblivion for the listeners, I am sure we all individually keep copies but wouldn't it be good to have a book like that to show off at parties and give to loved ones.

If you can choose one or two then email me and I will give them to Joan. Looking forward to next month and for those interested, Craig Berry is having his Tea dance on Friday afternoon 4pm to 7 PM the 30th of May at the Old Teahouse. Call Brian or Dianne for a booking and more info, I will be there so I hope you are too.   Http://www.craigberry.com.au/

Next months optional theme is 'Danger danger' and/or the first line is 'Give us from dusk till dawn' or remember, you can pick your own themes. Bye for now and don't freeze before we meet again. Your friend in rhyme Jeffrey
